Luke's Quest

Luke's Quest is a new series of books dealing with so many issues that some people think it is based on real people and their actual lives. It is the story of Luke Bradley and his quest for truth about history, himself and spirituality. In Prisoner of Time, the first in the series, he discovers a clandestine government operation that has developed time travel devices. Luke finds the woman who has haunted his dreams since he was a teenager and falls passionately in love with her. The drawbacks are that she is married and may be trying to kill him or have him killed.

As Luke faces death, he turns to his love of history to save his life. To his dismay and discomfort, the cost of his restored health is to become a shaman. (This part of the story begins in Time to Learn.) The more he learns about shamanism, the more he understands and questions his current spiritual path and his Christian upbringing. Yet each day seems to bring more challenges, deadly decisions and more self-doubt and recriminations. Perhaps Luke's biggest quest is to learn to forgive himself and accept the love his friends and family have for him.

ABOUT THE BOOKS

Prisoner of Time

In Prisoner of Time, the first of the Luke’s Quest series, Luke Bradley discovers a journal from 1881 written by a time traveler who is trapped in the past. Not only does Luke uncover a murder plot, but he also meets a woman he has seen in his dreams for years. Luke's love for Lisa presents a few problems. A few months from now Lisa may be murdered or may murder someone else, and Luke is not sure which. Meanwhile, both Luke and Lisa are attacked and nearly killed, and he tries to find out who is behind those attacks and why. Lisa's husband is one suspect. A rejected lover is another possibility. Or it could be the head of security for the secret government time-travel research project where she works, or even all of them working together. Will Luke live long enough to save Lisa, or will she die too while another time-traveler is trapped in 1881?

Most of the action takes place in modern-day Arkansas, but also includes a trip to Scotland as well as a journey back to Jacksonport, Arkansas, in 1881. It is a love story, adventure and mystery all rolled into one. Without intending to, Luke finds his life taking a different path from what he had ever expected it to and discovers healing in the process of helping others.

Time to Learn

Just a year ago, Luke Bradley was a relatively unknown historian living in his hometown of Blissville, Arkansas, and struggling to pay his bills. Now he is married to the woman of his dreams - brilliant, gorgeous, sexy and sassy - and they have enough money to go anywhere and do anything they want, not to mention the time-travel devices she invented that can instantly transport them to any time in the past.

Yet major problems cast giant shadows over their seemingly perfect lives. Several people want those time-travel devices, some badly enough to kill for them. Can Luke protect his wife and himself from unknown assassins? Will he find healing for his damaged heart in modern medicine or perhaps in the rituals of an ancient culture? And is it just his heart that needs healing? What will be the cost?

Time to Learn is the second volume in the Luke's Quest series. The setting alternates among present-day rural Arkansas, a 2,500-year-old mound village on the Mississippi River and 20th Century Paris. This story explores love, romance, adventure, history and shamanism. Once again, Luke finds his life taking unexpected twists and turns, but this time he is not alone.

THE REVIEWS

Prisoner of Time
Finished your book last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially all the little historical twists at the end which just made my head spin thinking about paradoxes again :). This is one I will end up reading a second time after the initial has soaked in. Lots of plots and subplots. At times it seems you a pulling a magicians trick of misdirection :) so you don't dwell on specific facts too long. As far as the detective side you pulled off a successful mystery, as I definitely didn't guess the end. An Arkansas reader

This book is so ESOTERIC! Having listened to Al speak, I am certain many parts are real and I love trying to guess which parts are the truth and which parts are hidden messages for us! An Ohio reader

This is such a healing book! A Texas reader

Bravo! I enjoyed the story very much and found it difficult to put down once I got into it. You and Karen did a great job and I am looking forward to A Time to Learn. I would love to know how you created the story and which parts were based upon your own experiences (in both worlds). A San Francisco readerA San Francisco

I found this book to be not only entertaining, but also very insightful. Although it is set in a science fiction background it stays well within the range of "believable" technology. It also bears a hint of esoteric knowledge that could only be written by an expert. This book reads quickly and leaves one with a sense of enlightenment. Highly recommended. 5 Stars! An Air Force reader (Lt. Col. no less!)

This book had me absolutely engrossed and sitting on the edge of my seat. The story line was awesome, the detail of the locations and the characters place you right in the story. I couldn't wait to see how it all came out and of course, the story took a twist I wasn't quite expecting. This book is a definite must read for anyone with a taste for mystery, history, romance and more. It takes many genres and rolls them into one great story. I simply can't wait for the remaining books so I can continue to follow this quest. An Arkansas reader

My boyfriend thought it was a great adventure story. I kept telling him it is a love story! Never have we been able to share a book or an experience like this. Thank you Karen and Al. An Alabama readerAn Alabama reader

DAMN! This book makes me wonder what the government is REALLY doing. How much of this did you remote view, and are THEY out to get you for revealing this stuff? Reading this story has made me rethink several things about my life and what I would change in the past if I really could! A Missouri reader

From the first page to the last page I was so engrossed that I could not put the book down until I knew what was going to happen next. The characters are so real you feel like you are living in the little town of Blissville with them. The friendship between Luke and Willie show the true love and compassion and loyalties of one true friend to another. I reread the book five times to make sure I did not miss anything. I am waiting on pins and needles for the next addition of Luke’s Quest. I usually rate books I read on a scale of 1 to 5 one being the lowest. If I had to rate Prisoner of Time I would have to rate it at 25. The book is just phenomenal. An Arkansas reader

I just want to write a short note to let you know how much I have enjoyed your books on Luke’s Quest. Let me say that it is not to often that I can pick up a book and read much beyond the first chapter. However, that I have found your book to be very interesting. Once I have started reading, I have found it hard to put down. I have been captivated by the subject matter of time travel for some time and have found myself having thoughts of what it might be like to travel to past destinations. I might add that your books have made me wonder even more. An Arkansas reader

Time To Learn

I could not wait to read the second book! The book gets deeper into time travel and making of a village in our time, similar to one from thousands of years ago. I was so deep into it one night I had started to read it when I went to bed and when I looked up the sun was out. It has been a really long time since any book has held my attention to the point that time becomes irrelevant. Hey that is a good line to describe this book since the series is about time travel. Luke and Lisa are a love for all ages. Since they loved and married in many life times before this one. I recommend this book for all ages from 5 to 100. I laugh and cried. Felt their joy and their pain. I love the way Karen and Al brought the old and the new parts of time together. At this point I know every book in this series will be in my library so I can read them whenever I want. Kudos to Al and Karen for such wonderful lesson on how life should really be lived. An Arkansas reader
